Self-Hosted Apps Built with Django

14 self-hostable apps built with Django you can run on your own server — compared on specs, deployment difficulty, and the SaaS each one replaces.

Push notifications

Apprise API

A small HTTP API and web UI around the Apprise library: one request fans a notification out to any of the 150+ services Apprise supports, such as Telegram, Discord, Slack, email and ntfy. Configurations can be saved under a key and reused by scripts and apps.

Error tracking

Bugsink

A deliberately small, self-hosted error tracker that speaks the Sentry SDK protocol — one container, SQLite by default, built to run your team's exception stream on a tiny box instead of an event-priced SaaS bill.

Error tracking

GlitchTip

An open-source, Sentry-compatible error tracking server — your apps keep using the official Sentry SDKs, but the exceptions, stack traces, and alerts land on your own lightweight Django instance.

Monitoring

Healthchecks

A cron job and background task monitor: your scheduled jobs ping a URL when they finish, and Healthchecks alerts you when the ping does not arrive on time. It watches jobs from the inside — the dead-man's-switch half of monitoring that endpoint checkers miss entirely.

Web analytics

PostHog

An all-in-one product analytics suite: event and funnel analytics, session replay, feature flags, A/B experiments, surveys, error tracking and a SQL data warehouse behind one SDK. The self-hosted 'hobby' deploy puts the whole platform on one server, about 36 containers including ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Redpanda (Kafka-compatible), Redis, Elasticsearch, Temporal and Caddy; PostHog's docs ask for 4 vCPU, 16 GB of RAM and more than 30 GB of storage. Self-hosting is free-plan features only, with no support and no tagged releases. The code is MIT, except the ee/ directory, which is under PostHog's proprietary enterprise licence.

Password manager

Psono

An end-to-end encrypted password manager aimed at IT teams, pairing a Django/PostgreSQL server with browser extensions and a built-in admin portal. The community edition has no user cap; SSO, audit logging, and policy enforcement live in the enterprise build.

E-commerce

Saleor

A headless, GraphQL-first commerce platform: products and variants, multi-channel and multi-currency selling, checkout, orders, warehouses and promotions, run from a React admin Dashboard. The stack is a Python and Django API, Celery workers, PostgreSQL and a Redis-compatible cache; it ships the API and Dashboard, not a customer-facing storefront, so you build or adopt one against the GraphQL API. The API and the Dashboard are both BSD-3-Clause.

Error tracking

Sentry

The full self-hosted edition of Sentry's error tracking and performance monitoring: exceptions, stack traces, releases, alerts, tracing, session replay and profiling, using the same SDKs as the hosted product. The upstream self-hosted repository is a Docker Compose blueprint of about 50 containers (Kafka, ClickHouse, Postgres, Snuba, Relay and more) licensed under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0) — source-available, converting to Apache 2.0 after two years — and it needs 4 CPU cores and 16 GB of RAM at minimum.
