Self-Hosted Apps Built with PostgreSQL

71 self-hostable apps built with PostgreSQL you can run on your own server — compared on specs, deployment difficulty, and the SaaS each one replaces.

Workflow automation

Activepieces

A no-code automation builder positioned as an open-source replacement for Zapier: a visual flow editor, a large library of 'pieces' (connectors) written in TypeScript, and MCP servers in the open core (its AI agents and Chat are paid-layer features). The Community Edition core is MIT-licensed; access control, audit logs, Git sync and multi-project features are sold as paid editions. Runs as one container for hobby use or a four-service compose stack for production.

A full container registry for teams: projects with role-based access, a web UI, image and Helm chart storage, replication to and from other registries, retention and immutability rules, audit logs, robot accounts and optional Trivy vulnerability scanning, all on top of the CNCF Distribution registry. Apache-2.0 licensed and a CNCF graduated project, written in Go with an Angular portal; it runs as a set of containers (core, jobservice, portal, registry, PostgreSQL, Redis, nginx) generated and started by its own installer.

A data-model-driven no-code and low-code platform: define collections and fields, then compose pages, blocks, workflows and permissions over them in the browser, with a plugin architecture for everything else. The Community Edition is published under the NocoBase License Agreement, which incorporates Apache-2.0 and adds supplementary terms (keep the NocoBase branding, do not offer it as a low-code SaaS); paid Standard, Professional and Enterprise editions lift those limits and add commercial plugins.

Odoo

Odoo Community Edition is an open-source ERP suite — invoicing, inventory, manufacturing, CRM, employees and website/e-commerce are all separate apps within one platform, with CRM as just one of those modules rather than a standalone product (full Accounting and Payroll are Enterprise-only). Odoo also sells proprietary Enterprise modules and managed hosting; only the LGPL-3.0 Community Edition is covered here. It runs on the official Docker image with a PostgreSQL backend.

Licensed AGPL-3.0; the documented install clones a dedicated git branch, a setup quiz writes .env, and a start script brings up seven containers (Caddy, PostgreSQL, Redis, ClickHouse, API, dashboard, worker).
